Jaeden was looking through the window into the other toddler room and pointing at a book. Teacher Tim noticed and came over to our room with the garbage truck book. "I want a turn" said Jack. "I wanna see it" said Tycco "What's going on O?" asked Armond. Tim read the book out loud and then each child took a turn reading it themselves. All of the children were interested in the new book.

summer drawing to an end
The first image is from the summer newsletter from daycare, shows the kids in Jack's class. We were lucky that even though Monika (who we really liked) left for a study abroad program, she was replaced by Megan who Jack knew a little already and will also be in Jack's transitional room in the fall.
all other photo creds go to Sean. he has an ability to capture moments that I only dream of.
in the morning:
Jack wakes up and calls "Maaaaaaaaaaaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
I go in and say, "hi Jack"
He says "I am waking up now"
I ask him what he wants to do. Sometimes he wants to go sit on the potty. Other times he wants to eat breakfast right away. When he sits on the potty he usually says, "it's not working yet." and then when he pees: "it's working!"
this morning he said, "sometimes it takes a little while"
summer childcare is ending and Jack will start the fall in a new, "transition" room. His friend Anna, sadly, will not be there. Her mom graduated and found a French immersion school for Anna near where they live in East Bay. However, Tycco will still be there and also a new friend Jack made named Will.
they won't have intake forms anymore, so maybe I'll finally get caught up on the stack I have sitting by our (still not hooked up) computer at home. And I swear I'll try to do a better job of keeping up to date on the blog in general.
tomorrow Jack and I are planning to plant some pumpkin seeds in his own little section of the garden. I'm going to separate out a little row from the area that he (hopefully) will have a sandbox. Jack is very excited about the pumpkin seeds but I think he thinks there's jack-o-lanterns inside of the envelope. I hope he's not too disappointed when we open it.

Daily Record August 9, 2010
Jack had a really great time this summer at daycare. Sadly, his good friend Anna left after the summer session ended. Her mom lives in Oakland and graduated so she found a preschool in Oakland for Anna to attend.
Jack asks her about with some frequency.
from the Daily Record, August 9, 2010:
Jack enjoyed playing a game of "Simon Says" this afternoon. He stood watching his teacher and attempted to copy the gestures she made. He smiled and giggled with friends as he played this. Once he was finished he rode his bicycle around watching us from afar.

Daily Record: Water Tower construction
Jack really enjoyed building a "water tower", using magnet sticks and plastic tubee. He told his teacher, "Debin I'm building a water tower!" Tycco joined in bringing magnets to Jack, as Jack strategically placed them along his tower! He did this all morning long letting everyone know "look out" so they did not step on his water tower.

Daily Record
Today Jack played a lot with Jaeden. They spent a lot of time together working on setting up the train tracks and adding trains. When Anna came over to join them, Jack was quick to pass her a few trains. Later we all went outside together and Jack and Jaeden had a lot of fun riding the scooter bikes together.

Daily Record: Tunnel construction team
Jack enjoyed building a tunnel with Tycco this afternoon. He let his teachers know "It's hard work building a tunnel!" He made train noises with Tycco as they went under the bridge. Tycco would say "Help me Jack Jack!" Jack would then attempt to fix the "problem" and sing his own version of train songs he made up.
Jack and his shovel
Yesterday before nap Jack kissed his Duplo excavator shovel good night, covered it with his blanket and asked me to read a story to it. Thank you Grandma Katherine!!
the wisdom of Jack
this picture was taken in Wisconsin at my friend Karen's house. Jack and her daughter Sophie had a blast together, jumping up and down and yelling...I can't remember what they were yelling over and over, Karen if you read this, do you remember?

Jack: Where is it going Mama?
Me: well I don't know, where do you think it's going?
Jack: to eat some snacks and put on his jammies and take a little nap.

Daily Record 2. August 2010
Jack enjoyed walking with Armand and Anna this morning on a classroom walk. The children walked holding hands, with each other, and their teachers. Once we arrived to the grassy area Jack asked Teacher Debin "What's this?!" Teacher Debin replied "It's Dirt!" Jack squatted down, pondered, and then said, "hmm...I wonder!"
