"The motorboat is broken"

Jack just hasn't been as interested in swimming as he used to be. It might be because he took such a long time off with his ear infections. Also, the class he's in is at maximum capacity and I think he gets a overwhelmed. I'm planning to go to a couple Thursday sessions instead of Tuesdays to see if it makes a difference. He'll miss his friends Fiona and Boyd, but if he enjoys being in the water more it will be worth it. When the class did motorboat (Motorboat Motorboat go so slow, motorboat motorboat go so fast, motorboat motorboat step on the gas! and all the kids kick) Jack didn't want to kick. When I asked him why not, he said his motorboat was broken.

Daily Record March 24, 2010:
Jack did some drawing with his friends after nap/before snack today. :) He used chalk and then markers when he got some marker on his finger he said "Jandra-my finger's blue!"

Daily Records

by the way, Jack really likes umbrellas
I'm still so behind on updating Jack's daily records from daycare. They're pretty awesome and I really want to include them, I just don't know the best way to do it? most recent to oldest? vice versa? haven't really figured it out. so here's a couple from the last week.
This summer he will start in the "Transition" Room, transitioning from infant/toddler to Preschool! Why am I so proud? isn't that funny? the other exciting thing about his is all the kids start working on potty training. they have these six teeny tiny little toilets, full on with levers to flush and everything. I know Jack is going to love it. A couple of kids in his class already use a potty, but we haven't forced the idea. Sometimes Jack sits on his little plastic one in the bathroom and sometimes he holds up the white insert next to the regular toilet and says, "big, small, the same!"

Daily Record March 17, 2010
Jack enjoyed having some quiet time before nap. He was a great helper picking up the toys. Then he built a "tower" with the blocks and helped Teacher Emily knock them down.

Jack couldn't go to daycare on Monday the 15th because of his vomiting. He vomited on the sidewalk outside of school and was really sad that he couldn't stay at school. All day long he said, "Jack stay at school Mama. Jack wants to see his friends." So sad...

March 12, 2010
Jack enjoyed playing on the drums outside. He was banging on teh drum as hard as he can saying, "loud" over and over again.

that's a lotta fours Mama!

When Jack wakes up at 3:30 or 4 am ready for breakfast, I try to get him to play quietly until at least 5 or 5:30. This is rarely successful. He finds lots of reasons to wake me up and remind me that he wants breakfast. At 3:33 he points at the clock and says, "Mama! Look! that's a lotta threes!" Then he does the same thing at 4:44 and 5:55.
Jack has been really under the weather for a while. He had an ear infection a couple weeks ago. The antibiotics didn't knock it out completely so he had some residual infection which he had to take a stronger antibiotic for. He started getting sick (vomiting) over the weekend and we were concerned that he wasn't keeping the antibiotic down so I brought him to the doctor where the doctor (not our normal one) pronounced his ear infection cleared and we could discontinue the antibiotic after 7 days instead of 10 as originally prescribed. Since we were at 6 1/2 days and we had every reason to believe the antibiotics were making him vomit, we discontinued only to find out today that his ear is still very inflamed and we have to start all over with a 10 day prescription. Meanwhile, he continues to vomit around three times a day, so when we're not changing his clothes, we're doing laundry.
This picture was taken in between the bad days out at a new green space in Hunter's Point.
