one freak morning Jack slept until 7:40 and I had to load him into the car to go to school while he was still in his pajamas. As we pulled out of the garage and the morning light burst into the car Jack said, "I need my sunglasses!"
Then he said, "I need my breakfast" so I passed him a muffin I had brought. He looked like a young Bob Dylan with his messed up hair and shades, eating in the car on his way to the gig.

recent developments
Jack really likes these hooks from the kitchen pan rack we haven't installed yet. He carries them around the house just like this. The clearly represent something to him, sometimes he talks about it, sometimes he doesn't.
the other night Jack's alarm clock accidentally went off at midnight. I rushed into his room to turn it off and found him sitting up in bed with his hands over his ears yelling, "IT'S AN EMERGENCY! IT'S AN EMERGENCY!"
after dinner one night Jack wanted to go into his room but the light was off (too high for him to reach). He waved his pointed finger at Sean and I and said, "hey, can any of you guys, Nancy, Sean, any of you guys, turn on my light for me?"
