Daily Record 21. July 2010
Jack was a little sad about coming to school today, he wanted to stay home with Poppa and Mama.
Jack was very interested in taking Anna's temperature this afternoon. Anna would tell Jack "no, not right now, I'm ok!" Jack would then let Anna know "No, you need to take it right now, I want to do it!" The two children chased and ran after one another until they reached the conclusion that one classroom doggie "Carl" needed his temperature taken since he was the sick one.

(note from November 2010: Jack still likes to handle his own identity. Sometimes when I refer to him as Fireman Jack he'll say, "no Mama, today I'm just Regular Jack". And in the same way he likes me to make up songs and stories about Fireman Jack, he likes me to make up songs and stories about Regular Jack.)

we had a campfire last night! Jack doesn't smell like smoke because we were smoking! no no no!
Jack really took the time to observe his friends this afternoon, when a few friends became upset Jack watched his friends, and then would ask "Are you ok?" He would tell his friends to "use their words" and show his care by consoling them (when upset.) At one point Jack even gave his "pizza" to a friend in order to feel better in these "hard times." :)

Independence Day 2010
We have a standing event we go to for July 4th each year. We go down to the strip called Mission Creek park by the boathouses for a community potluck. They always have great stuff for the kids to do like a big tub full of water and music and space to run around.
We stopped at Philz coffee on the way there to load up on caffeine and Jack wanted to see inside my pie box. In the pictures above he is telling me that he wants to eat some of that pie now and he doesn't understand why I am telling him "no".
