I am sorry to take him out of daycare for a whole week like this, I didn't really think about it until after the fact. I probably wouldn't do that again for a number of reasons.
So when Jack first started to walk, it would kind of shock me each time he would get up and take some steps. But I was always sure I had just seen what I thought I had seen. Now he is using words and it shocks me every time, but I don't have the certainty that I really just heard that the way I did when he walked.
Did I tell you this already? His current words with accompanying definitions:
"Mama" = me, Sean, Grandma and Obama
"Dog" = dog and cat
"My" which recently became "mine" = mine, me, my, I want that, I would like to have that (depending on desperation of intonation)
"Noooooooooooo" = yes and no, (this one becomes very confusing sometimes)
"More" (usually accompanies the ESL for "more")
"done" (accompanies the ESL for "full", um...sort of)
"hot" (accompanied by holding up his hand close to whatever is hot, but not touching it)
"stop" (holds up his hand in front of him)
Jack also understands a lot, he knows who people are, even the names of people he just met, and he really likes to help out around the house, especially taking things out of the refrigerator and giving them to mama or papa and throwing things in the trash or compost. I think I did mention this already....he gets this really proud little smile on his face when he does it. Today he insisted on helping me take out the recycling bins, both of them even though one was empty.
He loves hearing stories, and he'll hand you a book, then turn around and sit down in your lap so you can read it. His favorites are There's a Wocket in my Pocket, Goodnight Moon, Barnyard Dance, The Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, Dr. Seuss's alphabet book, the black and white animal book from Delia and the Bug book but he only wants to look at the ants. He continues to spend full days at daycare with a backpack on, although the tutu seems to have fallen by the wayside.
he's still not sleeping entirely through the night, but we're very close.
